Memory Box

On the tenth of May 2005, I was at my dorm, rummaging through my things, trying to find the piece of paper where I wrote my password for the online pre-enlistment of my subjects this coming semester, when I came across my memory box.

I postponed my original intention for an hour to take a trip back in time. I bought it as soon as I entered college and four years have passed since then. Four years of memories flooded me in less than an hour.

Here are some of the things I kept (in jumbled order..Ü):

FRESHMEN PRIMER. I’m a UP student! A dream come true. I was so happy to get in. I didn’t know the unbelievable forms of torture that lay ahead.

MINIATURE PAPER UMBRELLA. It’s from one of the drinks I had the first time I went to a bar. I got a little tipsy that night, though I really intended to get drunk. I was falling in love and was so damn scared.

NOTEBOOK.A mini-journal entitled, “Tumsy Update” where I wrote daily entries of the developments between me and my first year crush. (I know, I know.. I was barely 17, so young and sooooooo silly!)

DEBUT INVITATION. It was Kris’s birthday and we spent three whole days at their house. It was my first sleepover, though I did not really get any sleep.

CHEM 31 CLASSCARD. A memento of the first subject I failed. =(

CANDY WRAPPERS. These are gone now. I threw them away because I can’t remember who gave me the candies/chocolates.

RESTO/FASTFOOD RECEIPTS. I really don’t know why I keep receipts. I think I got it from my lola. Our house is full of receipts. These are about to go though.

DEFLATED BALLOON. Valentine’s Day group date at Pizza Hut with my friends.

LETTERS. So many letters! I’m fond of writing letters and some of my friends write back. There’s a letter from Holly where she traced her hand over the paper and she wrote a caption saying, “HINDI YAN VICTIM! SAMPAL YAN!” On the next page, she wrote the reason behind the supposed slap, and I was really touched that she remembered. It was a pact between us, and the letter made me realize how much I’m loved by my friends.

Well then, I’ll just share some of the others next time. It’s past four in the morning and I need to get some rest.
